M.O.M.S
Ministry Of Mothers Sharing
The mission of the Ministry of
Mothers Sharing (MOMS) is to
provide meaningful
opportunities for mothers to
gather and support one another,
across the life span, in the
spiritual, personal and social
development of family and
community. The group meets on
the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each
month, throughout the school
year, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00
noon for group discussions,
guest speakers, prayer services
and luncheons.
The Family Life Ministry, with the help of part-time staff and volunteers, facilitates the spiritual growth and development of all Sacred Heart
families by identifying, developing, and administering ministries and activities to meet the diverse needs of families across all age levels in
support of the parish mission.
Coffee on the Grounds
Coffee on the Grounds is a Family
Life sponsored event that offers an
opportunity to meet with fellow
parishioners after Mass the third
Sunday of each month September
through May. Coffee and doughnuts
are provided after the 8:00 a.m. and
10:15 a.m. Masses. The event is
manned by volunteers, and this past
year has been very successful using
various ministries to supply the
volunteers. Sacred Heart ministry
groups that volunteered are Family
Life, RCIA, CYO, Childrens
Liturgy, PTO, Altar Society, and St.
Vincent de Paul.
Grief and Bereavement
Have you considered joining the
Bereavement Ministry? Some of
our members serve by donating
prepared food for a funeral
reception; some serve by
organizing the reception and
serving the food; others serve by
contacting the grieving family,
assessing their needs, and
providing assistance. Sometimes we
simply serve by attending the
funeral. There is a place for you in
the Bereavement Ministry. Contact
B.J. Sanford to reserve your spot.
Children's Liturgy of the Word
Liturgy of the Word is offered to 3-6 year olds. We offer this special Liturgy at the 10:15 a.m. Mass on Sundays. Children are dismissed
after the opening prayer and are led by their teachers to the Parish Hospitality room where they listen and experience Gods word, designed
just for them. Once everyone has gathered, the children get to sing and ask for forgiveness by saying the sorry prayer. We then prepare
ourselves to listen to the Gospel by singing the Alleluia. Once the Gospel has been read from the Childrens Lectionary, the children
reflect and get involved in great discussions regarding the reading. Before the children return to Mass, the teachers provide a wonderful
activity that has been designed in correlation with the Gospel reading. Childrens Liturgy of the Word helps the children learn and
understand the Liturgy of the Word by keeping it simple, age appropriate, and fun. We also want the children to feel comfortable in
participating in the Liturgy of the Word. Most importantly, we want to help our children feel the joy of the Liturgy of the Word.
Parish Nursery
The Parish Nursery is located in the Parish Life Center at 306 Walnut. Please park in the back and enter through the double doors. The
nursery is open each Sun. from 10:00 a.m until 11:30 a.m. Trained childcare providers, assisted by trained parish youth, provide a safe,
nurturing environment for our children (infants through age 5).
Nursery care is available throughout the year for special parish celebrations such as the liturgy of the Holy Triduum. The nursery provides
childcare for the MOMS meetings on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month. In addition, the nursery has a Morning Out program during the
school year.
The Parish Nursery Board is a group of adults committed to providing a safe nurturing environment for infants and children on the Sacred
Heart parish campus. The members meet monthly to provide support, vision, and the development of quality programs that support families of
young children. For more information, contact Patty Nowell.
Sacramental Preparation for Infant Baptism
Parents of infants and pre-catechetical age children seeking baptism are encouraged to contact the office to schedule an appointment
for baptismal class. The life of each child is a precious gift to our faith community. We are here to support families in the nurturance
and faith development of their children. For more information, contact Phyllis Lee.
Sacramental Preparation for Marriage
Engaged couples anticipating marriage at Sacred Heart are asked to contact Karen Guthrie at the time of engagement. The preparation
process is vital to building a sacramental marriage.
Parish Homebound / Hospital Ministry
Trained ministers to the parish homebound visit weekly in the homes of families. Those who prefer telephone contact are called
weekly. This ministry facilitates a continued connection of our parish community with those who are absent from the assembly due to
poor health. The parish currently serves approximately 60 homebound members.
